Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate is then oxidized to 1,3-bisphosphoglyceric acid. The phosphate of phosphoglycerate molecules is relocated from the third to the second carbon to yield two molecules of 2-phosphoglycerate. Finally, phosphoenolpyruvate is converted to pyruvic acid with a generation of ATP.
